Intervention:
Lifting and burnishing of the abdomen by removing excessive skin and fat. The superdistended abdominal muscles are also lifted in an appropriate way.
Duration:
about 2 to 3 hours
Surgeries - Abdominal lift
Anaesthesia:
general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia with twilight sleep in regard of smaller results
Ambulatory or in-stationary:
normally in-stationary with 2 to 3 days in-stationary stay; ambulatory is very seldom
Post-treatment:
The scar is situated crosswise at the hypogastric region and is covered by a pair or briefs. A second scar is situated circular in the navel and is normally rarely visible after a few weeks. Temporary pain after the surgery is relieved by medications. Swelling, a slight numbness and tension sensation disappear after a few weeks.
Risks:
Increased bleedings that can lead to a wound revision in an extreme case; inflammations; wound healing disorders (especially in regard of smokers and diabetic patients) and a bad scarring are very seldom. They sometimes lead to a secondary intervention.
Recovery:
The patient can go back to work after 2 to 4 weeks depending on the activities. The tear strength of the scar is restored after 3 weeks.
Sports are possible after 4 to 6 weeks. The scar fades after 6 to 24 months and gets soft.
